ah, margins, incentives, and the itty bitty bits of consumer spending.

speaking of consumer spending, since a hopeless yuppie these days, i might as well put it to good use. i am hooked on vitamin water.

vwater lemonade

it has a pretty standardized price, $2.50, just about everywhere. i like the lemonade above best, just sweet enough and dilute like Gatorade so you guzzle it, hoping to get more flavour. i picked one up on Granville Island at the public market, and it cost me $2.75. about right, given the prime real estate and that its a bit of a tourist trap. today, lacking change, i bought one (green tea this time) from the Chartwell's-run SFU cafeteria. $2.85.

conclusion: Chartwell's is making Granville-island style profits off the backs of college students (and thats just for wholesale factory items. imagine the markup they must have on things made of raw ingredients!
